As part of the ‘Change the Exchange’ event, organised by students of the MA Economics for Transition students from Schumacher College, I took a sewing machine to Totnes market and offered free demonstrations on how to make knickers! It was a great morning and I had lots of interesting conversations with people from the local area. I always love how surprised women are when they realise how easy it is to make professional, stretchy, well-fitting knickers on a domestic sewing machine at home! The event was organised for the community to co-create new ideas on how a sustainable, thriving, resilient local economy could be, and how the residents could support each other more ways than just the exchange of money. To find out more about the MA programme at Schumacher College click here. I also highly recommend the MSc in Holistic Science which I graduated from three years ago!
